WP8 Regional Hazard Workshop II: Alpine Hazards
Alpine hazards, such as flash floods, avalanches and debris flows, are amongst the most threatening hazards in the entire Alpine space. These phenomena occur suddenly, are localised, fast moving, generally violent and interfering with each other, and difficult to predict. Thus, risk communication, education and social capacity building are key issues for effective short and long term responses to these multiple hazards.

This Regional Hazard Workshop will take place on the 4th and 5th of April 2011 in Gorizia, North-East Italy. The city is not only home to ISIG, one of CapHaz-Net's partner institutions, but the region is also prone to a variety of Alpine hazards, including earth quakes.
